Asda Debuts First Ever 3D Lenticular Shelf Barker For Diageo’s Smirnoff
Asda, has introduced the
first ever lenticular Point of Sale shelf barker. Developed by the Asda
Media Centre and Publicis Blueprint, the barker will project 3D hologram
Smirnoff product images and will be available for all Asda suppliers to
promote their brands in store.
The new POS has been created for drinks
giant Diageo, who briefed the Asda Media Centre to help increase
standout and encourage customer engagement for its vodka brand,
Smirnoff.
The lenticular design taps into the fact that an incredible
75% of buying decisions are made at the point of purchase, and recent
research shows that POS barkers can deliver sales uplifts upwards of
25%*.
The shelf edge barker will feature lenticular
images of a 70cl bottle of vodka changing to a ready to drink premix can
of Smirnoff and Cola as the customer changes position. The first image
is accompanied by the text: “Smirnoff Vodka, also available perfectly
mixed with Cola in a can” and the second image, with the premix can:
“Smirnoff and Cola, now available perfectly mixed in a can.”
The
barker will be sited in the spirits aisle and aims to drive awareness of
the ready to drink range of alcoholic beverages in Asda, in good time
for outdoor drinking. It’s set to go live in all stores nationwide on 27
April and will run for three weeks.
Sarah Brook, Head of Asda Media Centre,
said: “The Asda Media Centre is delighted to announce the launch of
the first ever lenticular shelf barker. This has been a long time in
development, and we’re confident it will really help to draw attention
to brands in store.
We hope Diageo will be the first of many brands to
benefit from our new-style POS.”
Robin Drysdale, Asda Media Centre Sales
Director, added: “The Media Centre knows it needs to constantly
innovate to stay ahead of the game. We have been keen to introduce a
well-produced lenticular shelf barker and it fitted the bill perfectly
for Diageo.”
