The chairman of Majestic Wine, the UK wine retailer, is to
step down from his role at the firm’s next AGM. Simon Burke, a
non-executive director of Majestic since 2000 and chairman since 2005, will step
down on 6 August, the company said today (26 January). Phil Wrigley has been appointed as chairman designate of Majestic and will join
the board in April as a non-executive director, He will become chairman
following Simon Burke's retirement.More on this story

The board of Morrisons
reportedly met on Sunday to decide on its new chief executive following
the defection of Marc Bolland to M&S. The Telegraph said that
Richard Pennycook, the group’s finance director, is front-runner for
the job, but he was facing competition from two executives from
European retail groups. The newspaper said that the name of the winning
candidate could be announced as early this week.
UK supermarket chain Asda has announced the appointment of
former Cobra beer CEO Adrian McKeon as beers, wines and spirits
category director.
